Chapter Composer

The Chapter Composer is what you'll use to write the Chapters that make up an Heirloom. Learn more about the various features within the Composer.

Text Styles

When writing a chapter there are three text styles you can use.

Header

  • ​Formatting text as a header is a great way to organize a Chapter into sections. When text is formatted as a Header it will also create a sub-navigation option in the Chapters sub-menu.

Subheader

  • Subheaders are a great way to break up a Header section into further sub-sections. For example, if you're writing about your Education you may have a Header for High School. Under High School you may want to create sub-sections to write about different parts of that experience such as Classes, Sports, and Extracurriculars.​

Normal

  • You should use normal formatting to write the bulk of your Chapter content.

Text Formats

As with most text composers you're able to format text in Bold, Italics, or Underline.  To use these formats highlight the text you want to format and then click on the icon for the format you want to use. 

Adding a Link

If you want to add a hyperlink to a section of text in your Chapter all you need to do is highlight the text and then click the Link icon. Keep in mind that links you add to your Everloom may break if the owner of the linked content removes the content you're linking to.

Adding an Image Inline with Text

While writing a Chapter you may want to add an image to the text section as a reference to what you're writing about. Follow the steps below to add an image to your Chapter text.

  • Place the cursor where you want to add the image

  • Click the Image icon

  • Choose where the media is coming from

    • From Computer: To upload a new image to Everloom from your computer

    • From Everloom: To add an image that you've already uploaded to Everloom

  • Click Add to Chapter

Adding a List

If you want to enter a list into your Chapter text you can add it as a numbered list or as a bulleted list.

Indenting Text

You can increase and decrease the indent of a section of text by using the Increase Indent and Decrease Indent buttons.

Clear Formatting

To clear the formatting of text in the composer first select the text and then press the Clear Formatting button.
